Mohammedan blank Baridhara in BPL Football

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited blanked Uttar Baridhara Club by three goals to nil in their match of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bhasha Sainik Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Friday.
Mohammedan Sporting Club have taken the fifth position in the points table grabbing 29 points from 19 matches, while Uttar Baridhara Club have taken the 10th position earning 13 points from as many outings.
Mohammedan’s foreign recruit Obi Moneke got a ball from his teammate Moraslin. Then, Obi Moneke entered the D-box of Uttar Baridhara after dodging past three defenders of Baridhara and made no mistake to hit the ball into the goal post after getting the Uttar Baridhara goalie alone in the injury time of the first half.
After the intermission, Mohammedan’s foreign recruit Souleymane Diabate made it 2-0 by a back header in the 70th minute of the play. Diabate got the ball on his way from a right side cross of his teammate Fahim.
Obi Moneke sealed the fate of the match (3-0) in the injury time of the second half.
Earlier, Baridhara’s Egyptian recruit Mostafa struck the ball after dodging past three defenders but Mohammedan custodian Ahsan Habib gripped the ball in the 17th minute of the game.
Diabate missed an opportunity in the 30th minute. He got a ball from his teammate but Diabate’s header passed away the goalbar.
Mohammedan got another chance in the 38th minute. Shahriar Emon’s header narrowly passed the goalbar which he got on his way from a right side cross of his teammate Diabate.
Earlier, Mohammedan played a goalless draw with Uttar Baridhara in their first round match.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Police Football Club made a goalless draw with Rahmatganj MFS at the Muktijoddho Sriti Stadium in Rajshahi on the same day.
Bangladesh Police have taken the sixth spot bagging 29 points from 19 matches, while Rahmatganj have taken the ninth position collecting 15 points from as many matches.
Earlier, Police defeated Rahmatganj by 2-1 goals in their first round match.
In the day’s other match, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited drew 0-0 with Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj. Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra have taken the eighth position gaining 22 points from 19 matches, while Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad have taken 11th spot earning 12 points from as many matches.
Earlier, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra lost to Muktijoddha Sangsad by three goals to nil in their first round match.
