No Sign of Peace in the Middle East
Mohammad Amjad Hossain :
Since the United Kingdom of Great Britan is responsible of allowing Jewish people to have place in Palestinian territory and the United Nations facilitated through providing article 181 in 1947.but the Palestinian themselves are now practically become stateless in their own territory because of irresponsible stand taken by the Arabs. Now Arab countries themselves are not united, apart from they are not showing much interest about the Palestinian. Moreover, Hamas and Fatah are not united themselves. The present picture in Palestinian is divided since President Mahmud Abbas of Fatah group did not hold election who remained in power for fifteen years. Since the death of Yassir Arafat, a general election was held in Palestinian under the international observers wherein US previous President Jimmy Carter and Senator Joseph Biden and Senator John E Summu plus the European Union were represented by a European Foreign Minister. Therefore Mahmud Abbas remained in power for 15 years. Therefore displeasure among Palestinian is justified. Present President of United States of America Joseph Biden is aware of the situation in Palestinian.
Since a large segment members of the Democratic Party have made an appeal to the President of the United States of America to reverse the decision of immediate past President Donald Trump but as of now no action came from President Joseph Biden. AS a matter of fact Palestine has succeeded to achieve observer status in the General Assembly of the United Nation on 29 November in 2012 but no major movement by the United Nations took in favor of Palestinian. US support has been one sided and excessive indeed.
Recent attack by Israeli police on Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is a crime since International law provides for attacks on religious and cultural sites is a crime according to the Rome statute of 1998. The attack took place when Muslims from around the world assembled to offer prayer in the mosque on the first day of Ramadan. Police of Israel should be punished.
It is really intriguing to note that President Joseph Biden as of now did not take any decisive action to resolve two state solution in occupied Palestine whereas as many as more than 500 former staffers in a letter to President Biden called on him on 24 May of 2021 to take action against Israel for violation of human rights of the Palestinian.
Having said so, they also are reported to have said that no responsible President of the USA would remain silent when basic human rights of the Palestinians are violated by Israel without rhyme or reason. The letter further said that we could not agree more and that is why we asked to ”unequivocally condemn Israel’s killing of Palestinian civilians”. It is highly irresponsible on the President of USA to remain silent who is representing Democratic party of USA while President George Walker Bush of the Republican party who stopped making payment to Israel since Israel did not stop reconstruction of houses for Jews in violation of Geneva convention. As a matter of fact George Waker Bush who was considered a pro-Israel President did not hesitate to condemn Israel for heavy handed action in 2002 against Palestinian while the United Nations termed the act as war crime.
Recent incident in East Jerusalem took place following demolishing houses of Palestinian who are residing there for generation. A letter was written by 70 Members of the House of Representatives led by Gerry Conolly on 24 June of 2021.These lawmakers categorically requested President Joseph Biden to reverse President Trump era Israel policy which abandons bilateral US policy with regard to Israel, apart from declaring Jerusalem capital of Israel in July 1980 in violation of international law while Security counsel of the United Nations declared violation of international law. It is really unfortunate to note that the USA which is propagating violation of human rights is indeed a crime while the USA has refrained from taking action against Israel which is violating human rights against Palestinians who are residing since the Ottoman Regime. It is disheartening to note the administration of President Biden has not yet initiated any action to resolve the dispute of two-state in occupied Palestine territories Some Democrat lawmakers are apparently dissatisfied for removing Palestinians from their homes from neighborhood of Al-Bustan and Sheikh Jarrah when Israel is reported demolished 5000 homes in East Jerusalem while Israel is under obligation under International law and Fourth Geneva convention which prohibits the destruction of property of occupied population. It seems to be crime committed by Israel. Brookings institute in its latest comment has said that President Biden bungled response on the Israeli — Palestine conflict. President Biden’s failure to condemn Israel in violation of International law has badly damaged his credibility
Despite a good number of lawmakers from Democratic Party have made appeals to President Joseph Biden to take action against Israel who remain non-committal as of now. It is not understood why on earth President Joseph Biden did not take any action against Israel while American taxpayers are reportedly making financial contribution to Israel and protecting Israel in the United Nations. US grants $ 3.8 billion which makes Israel largest recipient of foreign aid every year while US signed a deal in 2016 to provide Israel 500 million annually on Joint defence. It is high time for Democratic Party to think seriously about the President who is taking no action against Israel which is repeatedly violating international law in spite of repeated pointing out by Lawmakers of the Democratic Party.
Enough is enough.
