Bangladesh Cricket team will take on South Africa Cricket team in the second Test at Saint Georges Park in Port Elizabeth of South Africa today. The match will start at 2.00pm. Private satellite sports channel T Sports and private satellite channel GTV will telecast the match live from the venue. Earlier, the hosts South Africa posted a 220-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test on April 4. On the other hand, Bangladesh team earned a 2-1 victory against the Proteas in the three-match ODI series in South Africa recently.
The Test match is the part of the ICC World Test Championship. South Africa took the second position in the points table collecting 48 points from six matches, while Bangladesh took the eighth position earning 12 points from five matches.
Pace Bowling Coach of Bangladesh team, Allan Donald said, ” Saint Georges Park is the oldest ground of South Africa. It is a traditional cricket venue.”
Allan Donald played for South Africa for a long time. He was a famous pacer in world cricket.
Donald said, ” A large number of spectators came here to watch the matches. I have some sweet memories here. The wickets of this ground is really typical. A bowler cannot always dominate here. A batter also get ad vantage here. A peculiar thing will be happened here.”
He said, ” The wickets become flat at Saint Georges after day after day. So, a pacer have to bowl using his intelligence. A bowler have to be creative in this field. The wickets become flat after innings by innings. A bowler have to bowl with courage and have to bowl with novelty. The wickets of this ground will sometimes act for a batter and batter can get century using the advantage of this pitch.”
He said, ” The wind of this venue is a factor. After 12.30am the wind will rule here. To take the high catch is a factor and a fielder have to adapt with the wind.”
He also said, ” Sometimes the bowler thinks that he is bowling in favour of wind and sometimes the bowler thinks that he is bowling against the wind. Dale Steyn showed here few years ago against Australia on a flat pitch, that when the ball starts reversing it will help to take wickets here. It is going to be tough work for the bowlers.”
