Bangladesh has strongly condemned the Houthi militias’ latest onslaught targeting civilian facilities in different cities including Jazan and Khamis Mushayt in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 19 and 20 March 2022.
These attacks are sign of escalation of hostility and aggression on the part of the Houthi militias adding to further tension in the region, a press release said on Wednesday.
Bangladesh feels that the recent regular drone and ballistic missile attacks targeting innocent civilians and civilian establishments in the Kingdom constitute an unlawful and dastardly act of terrorism.
Bangladesh denounced that such deliberate and insensible acts are but flagrant violation of international law and norms of civilized behaviour.
Bangladesh notes with dismay that the Houthis’ attacks come ahead of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) sponsored peace talks in Riyadh on 29 March 2022.
Bangladesh also calls upon the Houthis to cooperate with the United Nations and GCC initiatives and refrain from escalation of conflict in the region.
Bangladesh reiterated its firm solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its brotherly people against any threat to its safety and security.
Bangladesh also remains steadfastly committed towards all efforts for maintenance of peace and stability in the region.
