Ten Supreme Court lawyers have sent a letter to the High Court seeking security of life of recently terminated Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) official Sharif Uddin.
The letter was sent to the High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman, and to the Registrar General of the Supreme Court on Sunday in accordance with the High Court Rules. In the letter the lawyers, led by Mohammad Shishir Manir, prayed to the High Court to issue a show cause notice asking the ACC to explain as to why it has sacked the official.
The court may hold hearing on the letter considering it as a writ petition on Tuesday, he added.
On February 16, ACC gave Sharif Uddin stand release as per 54 (2) of ACC (staff) rules, 2008.
Sharif Uddin had reportedly conducted investigations into corruption allegations against different offices and hospitals.
