Southern region is now a safe haven for drug peddlers

Southern region of the country has become a safe den for drug peddlers. Changing techniques, drug peddlers have been committing their brisk business without any obstacles at different parts of Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts. Women and adolescent persons have been implicating in drug trading alarmingly.
Anti-drug drives are also being conducted everyday in this region by different law enforcing agencies including Rab, police, DB and BGB. Recently members of the elite force Rab-6 arrested drug peddlers along with huge phensidyl and yaba pills from Khulna and Satkhira districts.
In a recent drive ( On February 7, 2022) , members of detective branch ( DB, KMP ) under Khulna Metropolitan Police ( KMP) arrested a drug peddler along with 1500 pieces of yaba tablets carrying in a Private Car. On the same day, a special team of Labonchara Police Station under Khulna Metropolitan Police ( KMP ) arrested a female drug trader along with 1.5 kgs of hemp persons along with 3 kgs of hemp from different parts of Khulna City. It was ascertained by Md. Kamruzzaman , Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police ( ADC, Media and Community Policing of KMP ).
Drug-lords ,patrons and traders are much more active in Khulna, sources said . In spite of the fact that some small drug traders are being arrested often by the law enforcers including elite force RAB, members of detective branch (DB), members of Khulna Narcotics Control Directorate (NCD) and policemen of all police stations. But some evil persons are informing by mentioning some fake names to the members of different Intelligence wings of the several law enforcing agencies including detective branch (DB), City special branch (CSB) and district special branch and National Security Intelligence (NSI) for making list of drug traders centering the previous enmity. As such actual drug traders and their finance givers-patrons are rescuing themselves from the arrest by the law enforcers, it is alleged.
Drug peddlers are more active than the previous periods. Drug-addicts can get drugs easily if they expand their hands. Yaba, ganja (Hemp) and Indian contraband phensidyl are being sold without any obstacles. Drug-addicts are implicating with different kind of crimes including snatching, stealing, and robbery and killing without getting money for purchasing drugs.
Several killings occurred in Khulna centering the supremacy over drug peddling, according to the police. But it is a matter of great strange that drug peddling can not be stopped by any means.
Sources said, drives against drug sellers are conducted now and then, but result is zero as some influential persons , it is alleged.
Selling and buying of drugs are now the common features of Khulna city and nine upazila areas of Khulna district.
Sources further said, the drug peddlers are so strong that they have been conducting their illegal business without any hesitation. On the other hand, young generation is destroying due to violent clutches of drugs.
