BPL Football to begin Feb 3

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football will begin on February 3. Bangladesh Football team were scheduled to play two FIFA friendly matches against Indonesia Football team on January 24 and January 27 in Indonesia. But the friendly matches were cancelled due to complications of the vaccination of Covid-19 for the booters of Bangladesh. Later, there was a rumour that the BPL Football will start before February 3. But the Professional Football League Committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) decided that the BPL will start on February 3. The decision was taken at a meeting in the BFF House on Tuesday.
The BPL Football will take place at the seven different venues across the country. The venues are : Bashundhara Sports Complex, Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla, Rajshahi Shaheed Freedom Fighters Stadium, Shaheed Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj, Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Gazipur and Sylhet District Stadium.
Traditional outfit Dhaka Abahani Limited’s home venue is Sylhet District Stadium, while Bashundhara Kings’ home ground is Bashundhara Sports Complex. The other participating teams’ home venue will be allowed soon.
Chairman of the Professional Football League Committee of BFF and Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, said, ” A representative team of BFF have inspected the Bashundhara Sports Complex recently. They submitted that most of the facilities of that venue are up to the mark. Rest of the works of that venue will come to an end before ending of this month.”
The second round matches will be held in Cumilla. Besides, the Under-18 Football League will be held on Single League basis.
