Abahani again win Fed Cup Football title

Dhaka Abahani Limited clinched the title of the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup Football title beating Rahmatganj MFS by 2-1 goals in the final at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur on Sunday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited led the first half 1-0.
Abahani’s Costa Rican recruit Daniel Colindres put his team ahead by a left-footer using a pass of his teammate Rakib in the injury time of the first half.
After the lemon-break, Rakib of Abahani made it 2-0 after getting the ball at the D-box in the 64th minute of the play. Faisal of Dhaka Abahani struck a long-range shot which was fisted by Rahmatganj goalie Rakibul and Rakib made no mistake to tap the ball into the blank net.
Rahmatganj reduced the margin in the 70th minute of the clash. Rahmatganj’s Ghanaian recruit Philip made it 1-2 goals by an angular shot after deceiving the advanced goalie Shahidul. Philip dodged past Rahmatganj defender Mamun Mia after getting the ball from a through pass of his teammate Shahriar Bappi.
Earlier, Rahmatganj’s Nigerian recruit Sunday Chizoba got Abahani goalie alone. But he struck the ball outside the side bar in the 12th minute of the match.
After two minutes, Philip of Rahmatganj advanced with the ball and entered the Abahani danger zone. But Abahani goalie came out from the goal bar and thwarted the shot of Philip.
Abahani got the easiest chance in the 28th minute but Nabib Newaz Jibon hit the ball over the crosspiece. Jibon got Rahmatganj custodian Shahidul alone.
 In the 33rd minute of the game, Colindres struck a power-packed free-kick but Rahmatganj goalie Rakibul punched the ball. Abahani came close to score in the 44th and 49th minute but Rakib and Colindres failed to convert those respectively.
