Criminal killed in gunfight with RAB in Ctg

UNB, Chittagong :
An alleged criminal was killed in a gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Jangalbari in Sandwip upazila on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mosharraf, 30, also a local Jubo League leader and son of Siddique of the area.
Acting on secret information, a team of RAB-7 raided the area around 3:30pm for arresting Mosharraf, said Rab ASP Sohel Mahmud.
Sensing the presence of the elite force, Mosharraf and his associates opened fire on the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
At one stage, Mosharraf was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while his accomplices managed to flee.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the spot. Some 29 firearms were also recovered from the spot.
HM Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sandwip Police Station, said Mosharraf was wanted in 14 cases, including that of robbery.
