DU honours young scholars of water management

Campus Report :The certificate awarding ceremony of a two-week long workshop on “Water Futures: A Dialogue of Young Scholars and Professionals” jointly organized by the University of Dhaka and Jamia Millia Islamia, India was held recently at Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Social Science Building of Dhaka University. Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad distributed certificates among the participants as chief guest.Project Coordinator of “Water Futures” Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed presided over the function while Indian Prof Dr Sanjoy Hazarika and DU Prof Ashequa Irshad also addressed it. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad in her speech stressed the need for introducing common water resource management system among the South Asian countries to solve the current problems. She also emphasized on strengthening regional cooperation between Bangladesh and India in the fields of higher education and research on joint river management. She urged the young students, scholars and professionals of neighboring countries to play an effective role to promote water resource management systems in South Asian region. A total of 26 young scholars and professionals from Bangladesh, India and Nepal participated in the workshop.
