Bangladeshi company in UN’s top ten seed index

Bangladeshi company has achieved seventh positioned in the United Nation’s top ten seed index.
The Lal Teer Seed Limited has become seventh in this index list published by World Benchmark Alliance and United Nations Foundation recently.
For the first time, the company has attained the seventh position in the index among the South and South-East Asian countries.
Six indicators have been used to compile the index. The indicators are capacity building, marketing and sales, seed production, research and development, genetic resources and intellectual property management, good governance and strategy. The Lal Teer Seed has obtained 59 out of 100 marks.  
Besides, two Bangladeshi companies are in the top regional position among the 31 countries.
Mahbub Anam, Managing Director of the Company said, “The position achieved by the Lal Teer Seeds Limited is absolutely glorious for the country.”
“It is recognition of the contribution made by the Lal teer ltd to the development of the country’s seed industry over the last few decades,” he said.
Lal Teer Seed Ltd is the largest producer of seeds in the private sector in Bangladesh. It is a research-based company which develops and produces high yielding, both hybrid and open pollinated seeds and also manages its own sales and marketing infrastructure.
