Dr Sabira murder still remains mystery

Syed Shemul Parvez :
Although more than three months have elapsed , since the sensational murder of Doctor Kazi Sabira Rahman alias Lipi at her residence in Kalabagan on May 31, the clue of the murder remains in the dark.
Despite the help of her relatives, tenants and modern technology for a long time, police have not been able to find out any clue thereof.
Sources said that, police had interrogated more than 15 people, including suspected subtenants, but could not reach any conclusion.
As such, the case has been handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) recently.
When asked about the development of the case, Md Jahangir Alam, PBI’s Special Superintendent of Police in Dhaka (north) told the New Nation, “We have started an intense investigation to identify and arrest the killer soon after the case is handed over to us. Actually we
should not tell anything before end of the investigation. However, the case is being investigated keeping in view all the possible clues, he said.
Earlier, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalabagan Paritosh Chandra Das told the New Nation that victims’ relatives were questioned more than once about the reasons and as to who was involved in the incident. But no evidence of involvement in the killing could be obtained from them.
We are using modern technology and scientific methods in the investigation to confirm the facts. In that case, of course, we will be able to bring out the real cause of this incident and those responsible, OC added.
It was also learned that the used cell phone of the brutal murder victim Sabira was sent to the chemical laboratory for the research and investigation. The report already has come from there. Yet none knows what might have happened before or after the tragic incident, and who came to Kalabagan’s house to make sure about the killers.
Meanwhile, while expressing his opinion about the progress of the case, Investigation Officer AFM Asaduzzaman of Kalabagan Police Station said they couldn’t make any headway towards solving the mystery of the gruesome murder.
After the incident, the relatives of the deceased suspected that many people used to travel to the sublet flat of Kaniz Subarna, a student and model who lived with doctor Sabira. In addition to modeling, she also ran an online business with the private company Daraj. She might have been involved with the incident. She should be interrogated because she went out to walk from that house before the incident.
Besides, when she returned home, she saw smoke coming out from Lipi’s house and informed her relatives.
