Village doctor detained with Moderna vaccine

Vijay Krishna Talukder, a village doctor who owns a clinic in city’s Dakshin Khan, has been sent to jail in a case of recovering 29 doses of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine and an empty box of 2,000 doses.
The court passed the order on Thursday in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayed.
At the same time, the court has fixed August 23 for the 10-day remand hearing to question the accused.
Earlier, SI Abdul Aziz of the concerned police station had applied for 10 -day remand to question the accused in a case filed under the Special Powers Act with Dakshinkhan Police Station.
But, the investigation officer did not appear in the court on that day. As a result, the court fixed August 23 for remand hearing in the presence of the investigation officer. On Wednesday night, police arrested accused Vijay Krishna Talukder in a raid.
During the operation, two ampoules of Moderna ticker were found in the clinic. One of which was Ticker ISIC. Besides, 22 empty boxes of moderna ticker were found.
Earlier, on the basis of secret information, police came to know that a clinic called Doridro Poribar Sheva in Dakshinkhan area of the city was being given moderna vaccine illegally.
Based on that allegation, police conducted a raid in the clinic from 7 pm on Wednesday and arrested Vijay Krishna Talukder (38), the owner of the company, on the charge of illegally vaccinating Corona without legal procedures.
According to the police, these vaccines were sold at high prices from this clinic. Dakshinkhan Police Station SI Rezia Khatun filed the case.
