Liberation War based short film Dhor screened
Entertainment Report :
Aka Reza Ghalib’s National Film Grant-winning short film titled Dhor was screened at the auditorium of Bangladesh Film Archive recently. Based on a short story by Liberation War researcher and writer Afsan Chowdhury, the short film details
one day in the life of the protagonist during the Liberation War. Director Aka Reza Ghalib, crew members and prominent cultural figures attended the screening ceremony.
Writer Afsan Chowdhury joined the ceremony via video conference. “Dhor is an intense and sort of an absurd short story. I have tried to tell the stories of regular people that I witnessed in 1971. I was a little bit hesitant when Ghalib showed interest in adapting my short story. But I am grateful that he finally took my story to the big screen,” he also said. Director Ghalib said, “I feel like the story at the heart of our short film matters more than the making itself.”
The 25-minute short film Dhor will have several public screenings once the pandemic is brought somewhat under control, the director said. Ghalib’s directorial debut Koler Putul was previously selected to compete in the Asia Pacific Screen Awards along with director Akram Khan’s Khancha (2017).
