Info gap holds back smart ID cards

The Election Commission (EC) is handing over NID smart cards, having a various type of modern digital facilities, instead of laminating NID cards to the citizens in different part of the country.
But, the people are facing problem to get their NID smart cards due to incomplete data entry in the EC server. When a necessary information is lapsed then the EC server show ‘not found problem’.
When asked, NID Wing Director General (DG) A K M Humayun Kabir said the NID smart card could not print without putting some mandatory information.
But those who have faced the ‘not found problem’ will get NID smart card after putting their correct information there.
By using a smart phone they can easily get the necessary information as required for the smart NID card.
He said that 14 types of information are needed in NID smart cards format. If any of the information goes missing then NID would not be printed.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had inaugurated NID smart cards distribution programme on October 2, 2016.
