Avijit murder case

The death reference (lower court documents) of blogger-writer Avijit Roy murder case, in which five militants were sentenced to death, reached the High Court (HC).
Officials concerned of the trial court brought the documents to the HC on February 25, Supreme Court spokesman Mohammad Saifur Rahman told the media on Sunday.
He said the death reference section of the HC will now scrutinise the documents and then will prepare the paper book for hearing the case.
After the paper book is prepared, Chief Justice
Syed Mahmud Hossain may assign a HC bench for it’s hearing, he added.
A Dhaka tribunal on February 16 sentenced five members of banned militant outfit Ansar al Islam to death and another to life in jail for killing blogger-writer Avijit Roy in February 2015.
