Allahr Dal second in command with four other arrested in Dhaka

Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police has arrested five leaders including second in command of the banned militant group Allah’r Dal.
They were arrested from Dhaka’s Farmgate and Mohammadpur areas on Wednesday night.
The arrestees are-Sheikh Kamal, 35, the second-in-command of the group; Sohel Rana, 40; Robi Ahmed Pappu, 37; Md Khalekuzzaman, 37; and Moniruzzaman alias Milon, 42.
ATU Superintendent of Police (SP- media and awareness) Mohammad Aslam Khan confirmed the matter on Thursday and said acting on a tip-off they conducted raid and arrested them.
At the time, 12 mobile phones, visa cards, Prisoners pay slip and cash Tk 36,072 were seized from them.
Among the arrested, Kamal is the second in command (co-captain) of Allah’r Dal from January 2020. He joined the organization in 2004 through the organization chief Matin Mahedi, who is now behind the bar, said the official.
Khalekuzzaman also through Matin got involved in militancy in 2000. He was the chief of the outfit’s Dhaka district unit since 2017. The then he was the central head of the Dawat department from January 2020 while Moniruzzaman was a nephew and close aide of Matin, he further said.
Sohel joined the outfit in 2018 and his job was to communicate with fellow militants in jails, help them in case proceedings and look after their family members, Aslam said.
Robi was the chief of the group’s Gazipur unit.
He also said that their aim is to mislead the people by worshiping their religious beliefs, to finance terrorist activities and to destabilize the State. A case has filed against them in Tejgaon Police Station.
