Man kills 26-day-old daughter in Narayanganj

A man has allegedly killed his 26-day-old daughter in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.
The incident took place in Paragaon Dakshinpara area of Bhulta Union of the upazila on Saturday morning. Khadija Begum, the child’s mother, filed a case with Rupganj police station against the father, Officer in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan told the media.
The accused, Kamal Hossain, 28, has been absconding since the incident. He is the son of Babul Hossain of Machimpur Haulipara of Rupganj upazila. According to police and family sources, Khadija Begum, daughter of Harunur Rashid of Dakshinpara area, got married to Kamal Hossain two years ago.
After the marriage, Kamal used to live at his in-laws’ house and worked in a hotel.

Kamal was expecting a son but 26 days ago the couple had a daughter, Meem. Following the birth of his daughter, Kamal started behaving badly with Khadija.
He tried to kill his daughter 10 days ago but failed. Later on Saturday, when Meem woke up and started crying in the morning, he picked her up and slammed her on the ground. The infant died on the spot.
Khadija Begum alleged that her husband had planned to sell his child if it had been a boy. Kamal killed his daughter because his plan had been ruined.
Rupganj police station OC Mahmudul Hasan said the body of the child was recovered and sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue.
They are trying to arrest the father, the police official added.
Earlier, a mother abandoned her 2-day old baby girl, who died later, in the jungle just for being a girl, in Narayanganj.
