OCA to extend helping hand to Bangladesh: Shahed Reza

Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza said Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah have assured him personally OCA would always extend helping hand toward Bangladesh in sports.
Shahed Reza told it to BSS correspondent before leaving Incheon on Saturday.
The BOA Secretary General said: “I had the privilege of meeting OCA boss personally in Incheon and he invited me to accompany him in to number of venues with him including the opening ceremony.
He has assured me not only OCA but also Kuwait OCA would extend helping hand for the development of sports in Bangladesh. “We discussed various issue including a threat which voiced to reduce number of games including Kabaddi not to be included in the future Asian Games.
OCA Boss assured me that he would always protect kabaddi, sepak takraw and wushu and see that these three regional are included in future Asian Games, Reza added.
Shahed Reza talking about the disciplines who were not allowed to participate after the poor showing in Commonwealth said: “I know athletes who were preparing must have been disappointed but BOA, has now taken a stand we will not send any team who will embarrassed Bangladesh with their performance.
They should go down fighting, not making laughing stock of Bangladesh athletes. I assured we would leave no stone unturned to get these trained athletes to certain international standard. BOA will trained both coaches athletes abroad so that in future they are able to cope near the international level.
Bangladesh American born Gymnast Quazi Syque Caesar who was first left out after his poor show in Commonwealth but after Bangladesh Sports Minister’s he was again included in this Asian Games.
Syque qualified for the final round and finished seventh in both his event despite all the World’s leading gymnast were taking in these events. He was almost very close to grab a medal, had his lady luck smile a bit in his favour.
Reza also met the athletes at Games Village and witnessed the Bangladesh cricket team’s quarter-final and also went to stadium to witness Bangladesh others events despite being very busy with OCA meetings.
