Hearing on Dandy Dyeing loan case deferred

A Dhaka court yesterday (Thursday) deferred the hearing in a case filed against 11 persons, including BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko, of Dandy Dyeing Limited for non-payment a loan amount to Sonali Bank Limited. The new date is October 27.
Earlier, Judge Mohammad Rabiuzzaman of Dhaka’s Ortho Rin Adalat-1 (Money Loan Court-1) asked the defendants to submit a High Court order with corrected date the next time.
The other defendants of the case are late Major Iskander’s son Shams Iskander, Safin Iskander, daughter Sumaiya Iskander, wife Nasrin Ahmad, businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun, his wife Shahina Yasmin, Kazi Galib Ahmad, Shamsunnahar and her son Masud Hasan. Shamsunnahar and Masud were made defendants after death of defendant Mozaffar Ahmad.
On October 2, 2012, Sonali Bank filed the case against the defendants after their company Dandy Dyeing Limited failed to pay the principal amount with accrued interest.
The company borrowed Tk 12.16 crore from the bank’s principal branch on October 16 in 2001, which increased to Tk 45.49 crore with interest accrued in last 12 years, says the case statement.
