SCBA urges CJ to resume regular court activities
The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Monday sent a letter to the Chief Justice requesting him to immediately resume the regular activities of the courts across the country for the sake of lawyers and litigants.
SCBA secretary Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal on behalf of his organization sent the letter to the office of Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain both manually and virtually.
The lawyers have been facing serious procedural problems in filing and moving cases, bringing the cases in the cause list and sending court orders to the recipients under the current virtual court system, read the letter.
“The SCBA had earlier (July 8) placed seven proposals to the Chief Justice regarding reopening of regular court activities strictly following health guidelines. But the SCBA has yet to see any steps towards resumption of the regular court functions,” also read it.
Regular activities of all courts through out the country, the Appellate and the High Court Division, have been suspended since March 26 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Later virtual version of the judiciary was introduced on May 11 this year to hear the urgent matters of the justice seekers after a law had been enacted.
But recently many lawyers of the Supreme Court and other district courts are demanding to reopen the regular activities of the courts instead of the virtual system.
