2 held with arms in city

Police in a drive arrested two alleged extortionists with a revolver in the city’s Kawran Bazar on Thursday night. The arrested persons have been identified as Anwar Hossain Ujjal and Khorshed Ali.
Tejgaon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam confirmed the matter and said that a special team of law enforcers conducted a drive in the Kawran Bazar Kitchen Market area following a secret information around 11:45pm.
Police intercepted Anwar and Khorshed while they were riding on a motorcycle in the area. The cop members searched their bodies and found a pistol and two
knives in their possession, the OC said.
The arrested persons have confessed their guilt of extortion in the area for last few years, the police official said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, he added.
