Responsibility Of Student’s At This Corona-Time

Gazi Md. Abdur Rashid:
It is difficult to say where the impediment of the novel Corona virus, which has spread worldwide, has ended. The whole world is now in uncertainty about Corona outbreak. The World Health Organization (WHO) is constantly passing various update information. It also states it is not possible to say when the Corona virus infection will end. In this case the government of Bangladesh has extended the ongoing leave for the seventh time till May 30 to deal with this pandemic. The lockdown has ruined social life as well as the global education system. About 4.75 crore students in schools, madrasas, colleges and universities in Bangladesh have been affected badly due to the corona outbreak. According to UNESCO, about 91.30 percent of the world’s students are affected by the closure of educational institutions due to the Corona outbreaks.
The first thing students will do during this vacation period is to stay at home while maintaining a ‘social distance’ to protect themselves from the contagious virus, obey the health rules, eating foods that increase immunity, exercising regularly, co-operating with parents to relieve them, stay away from drugs as well as from any bad habits. Be aware of this pandemic, family member, classmates, friends using mobile or social media. Students are the future of the nation. In the future, we will get a scientist, doctor, engineer, politician, skilled administrator, entrepreneur, player, social worker, artist, poet from today`s student. For this reason, enlightenment has to be developed in the students. If enlightenment is to be a human being, it is necessary to be persistent and punctual in this difficult time with a strong morale. Every student has to redesign life routine newly. Where there should be time for eating, drinking, studying, praying, helping parents, family members, classmates, friend’s. Student has to engage to body-building, recreation, playing games, etc. Students have to read the textbooks at home. They have to read every page of the textbook, have to understand the content, at the end of each chapter they have to create their own questions and make a logical and appropriate answer to them. When the school opens, the answers of the questions has to be corrected by the teacher.
From pre-primary to twelve grade students can watch classes on Bangladesh Sangsad television. There are more classes in the Kishore Batayon run by Access to information (A2i). In addition, on YouTube there are also lectures on the specific subject according to the category. Besides this, there are some lectures on various websites like 10 minute School, BRAC e-Education Program, Khan Academy, and another various websites which are providing different concepts of education.
The guidelines for what a student will study, who to teach, where to study, how long to study, how to study, what to read, what kind of teaching materials to use comes mainly from the school teachers. So, if there is a problem in understanding any content of the books, students will be able to understand it very closely with the subject teacher, using the medium of mobile or social communication with the classmates. In addition to the textbooks, one can read religious books, various educational stories, biographies of world famous scholars, history of the liberation war, culture, civilization, world famous heritages. In this interim period, by reading regular online based newspapers-magazines students can gather knowledge and enrich themselves. Students need to look for knowledge using technology products (ICT materials). However, they can listen to folk songs, watch scientific movie, and play games. They can also watch bodybuilding content due to make them healthy and fit. Playing excessive games, watching Facebook, YouTube, TV without cooperating with the parents during the vacation, should be avoided to cause unnecessary annoyance to the parents.
The positive aspect in the context of our country is that the lessons of sixth to twelfth class have been started to be broadcast on Sangsad television. Many students will be favored through this praiseworthy initiative. Digital literacy and awareness are very low in Bangladesh despite digital progress. If we want to keep pace with the world’s ongoing education system, which is likely to change in Corona pandemic, there is no alternative but to create skills in this field. Overall, the global trend of online teaching and assessment is visible. However, the work of the education is not limited to the exchange and evaluation of knowledge. Education also plays an important role in laying the foundation for social customs and relationships.
It is possible to work as a volunteer by becoming a member of various voluntary organizations with a great vow of human service in this difficult time without any worries. Lastly, one should apologize to the creator (Lord) in their respective religions as well as pray for him as well as for parents, family, teachers, neighbours, classmates, friends and country and overall for the whole nation to get rid of Covid-19. The World Economic Forum urges governments and corporate to come forward to implement online learning methods in underdeveloped areas that cannot afford digital devices and related another costs. Recent UNESCO recommendations include protection from Covid-19 as well as continuing education, prioritizing school and examination calendars redesign, and providing nutritious food to the students and responsibility of parents in schools in remote areas should be increased with a view to thinking student`s safety.
