Courts to remain shut from Mar 29 to Apr 2

All courts will remain shut from March 29 to April 2 as the government declared a public holiday in the period amid growing coronavirus risks.
In a circular signed by Md Ali Akbar, Registrar General of the SC, it said a notification had been issued from the Ministry of Public Administration announcing a public holiday from March 29 to April 2 as a precautionary measure to combat the infection of virus Covid-19 and prevent the spread of it across the country.
In this circumstance the general holiday has been declared in both the Supreme Court and all the subordinate courts of the country from March 29 to April 2 in line with the announcement of the Ministry of Public Administration, added the circular.
Both the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the SC were scheduled to reopen on March 29 after its ongoing vacation.
Earlier, the Supreme Court ordered the lower courts across the country to adjourn all judicial activities for a reasonable time except those dealing with bail petitions, temporary bans and emergency matters amid growing coronavirus outbreak.
The decision came after Bangladesh confirmed six new cases of coronavirus, taking the total to 39.
