Enhance revenue generation for national uplift: Minister

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga Monday said there is no alternative to enhancing revenue generation in increasing internal resources for national uplift.
“All eligible citizens must be brought under income tax collection system for advancing Bangladesh towards uplift through implementing massive development programmes of the government utilising local resources and reducing reliance on foreign aids,” he said.
Ranga was addressing a post rally discussion arranged for distribution of citations and crests among the best 35 tax payers of Rangpur division in observance of the National Income Tax Day-2014 at Zila Parishad Community Centre in as the chief guest.
Rangpur Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office organised various programmes, including bringing out of a huge colourful rally, discussion, citation and crest distribution ceremony to observe the day befittingly.
Earlier, the State Minister led the rally participated by hundreds of people, including government and NGO officials and employees, students, teachers, civil society members, business community leaders, sociocultural activists, professionals and elite of the city.
Panel Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Abul Kashem attended the discussion as the special guest with Tax Commissioner of Rangpur Zone Animesh Roy in the chair.
Member (Legal and Enforcement) of the National Board of Revenue Kalipado Halder, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht and President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu addressed.
The speakers said Bangladesh has achieved tremendous economic success to become a middle income nation soon and spontaneous tax payment by citizens would further accelerate the process to ensure social justice and equitable wealth distribution.
They called upon all concerned for coming forward spontaneously in paying income taxes through availing various facilities being provided by the government through the National Board of Revenue in a hassle-free manner.
