Youth hacked to death, 2 injured for protesting eve-teasing

A youth was hacked to death and two others were injured when some local stalkers attacked them in Sultanpur area under Bagha upazila of Rajshahi on Tuesday evening for protesting teasing of his niece.
The victim identified as Nazmul Hossain, 25, was the son of one Azizur Rahman from Sultanpur village in the upazila.
However, police arrested six people on Tuesday night following a case filed by the deceased’s father Azizur with Bagha Police Station against 28 persons, naming 23.
But police couldn’t arrest the key accused Sumon, son of Mohammad Bhola from the same area as yet.
Relative’s sources said that main accused Sumon used to eve-tease a teenage girl here and there on her way every day
On Tuesday afternoon, Sumon intercepted the girl on her way to maternal grand father’s home, eve-teased her and used obscene language to her.
The victim’s family informed Sumon’s father about the matter that made him agitated.
In the evening, Sumon alongwith 10 to 15 other men went to the girl’s house and started beating her father Shahjahan and brother Tarikul Islam Tushar, leaving them injured.
They also hacked Nazmul at random when he came forwards to save them, leaving him critically injured.
The police hunt is underway to arrest all of the accused, Bangha Police Station Officer in-charge (OC) Nazrul Islam said.
