Justice Moyeenul goes on retirement

Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury, one of the most senior judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, retired on Wednesday ending his 38 years of judicial career.
On this occasion, Supreme Court administration and Supreme Court Bar Association arranged farewell ceremony.
Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury took oath as an additional judge of the High Court Division on August 23, 2004 and was appointed Judge on August 23, 2006.
Before this, he Joined in the Judicial Service as Assistant Judge on March 17, 1982 and was promoted as District and Session Judge on March 1, 1998.
He completed his BA (Honors), MA and LLB degree under Dhaka University.
He was born on January 9, 1953 in Sylhet and on Wednesday completed his 67, the age when a Supreme Court judge goes on retirement.
Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury in his Judicial life participated in international seminars, symposiums, workshops in Australia and Thailand and also participated in sharing of views and experiences with Canadian Judges in Ottowa, American Judges in New York, Malaysian Judges in Kuala Lumpur and Filipino Judges in Manila. He also visited India, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
In the farewell ceremony, the judge said that now the judiciary is in the weakest situation among three organs of the state though the people respect the said organ most.
“It is not the organ like the executive nor part of the power like the legislative. But the judiciary enjoys the highest respect of the people,” said the judge.
