Staff Reporter :
Transport workers stopped bus plying on18 routes of Jashore against the new Road Transport Act, demanding amendment.
Mortaza Hossain, General Secretary of Bangladesh Transport Workers’ Association confirmed the news to media that they had suspended plying of buses from Sunday afternoon.
Without prior announcement, sudden transport strike is causing immense sufferings to the general people.
Mortaza said, they will be branded as killers even for unintentional accident which is generally applicable for terrorists. But transport workers do not kill anyone intentionally.
In this regard, we requested the government to review the new law for several times, but they didn’t care. That is why we are compelled to call such strike, Mortaza also said.
“Not only this, the workers have many objections about several sections of the new law that need amendment immediately,” he said.
