Five drown in district

At least five persons including three minor in Gopalganj drowned in separate incident in the country on Sunday.
In Gopalganj, three minor children, including two siblings, drowned in pond under Muksudpur Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Meherjan, 5, and his sister Maria, 3, daughters of one Miraz Sheikh, from Nishchintopur and Jhorna, 3, daughter of one Nur Alam, from Topakandi village.
Locals said, the three children slipped into a pond nearby Miraz’s house while they were playing there in the morning. Later, family members saw the floating bodies in the pond and rescued the bodies.
The children were taken to Rajoir Upazila Health Complex where the on duty physician declared them dead.
In Munshiganj, two cousins including a minor boy drowned when a boat capsized in a pond in Sreenagar upazila Munshiganj on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Md Sakib, 5, son of one Md Nasir, hailed from Gazipur; and his cousin Sejan, 25, son of Ekhlas Miah of Kulapara village in Sreenagar upazila.
Yunus Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Sreenagar Police Station said that the duo drowned when their boat sank in a pond in Kushirpara village around 11.00am.
