Fakhrul finds sharp slide in law & order

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday crticised the government for what he said sharp slide in law and order situation across the country, saying that the country’s people are now suffering from a sense of insecurity.
“Country’s people are not in peace. They even can’t move safely on the streets,” he said while addressing a meeting of the BNP-led 20-party alliance at Mukhterpur Ferryghat in Sadar upazila at noon.
The BNP spokesperson said, “Awami League is trying to hang onto power by resorting to killing, looting and making (people) disappeared. They want to re-
establish one-party rule and stay in power forever.” He alleged that the government has pushed the country towards conflict abolishing caretaker government system.
Mentioning that the government occupied power through a controversial and ‘voter-less’ January 5 elections, the BNP leader said they have remained in power using muscle power and with the help of law enforcers.
He claimed Awami League will not get more than 30 seats if a fair election is held right now. Fakhrul urged people to wage a strong movement to oust the ‘illegal and worthless’ government.
Leaders of the party’s central and local units also addressed the meeting held with Munishiganj district unit BNP president M Abdul Hye in the chair.
