BB recommends ACC to take legal steps against SIB recruitment scam

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has recommended Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to take legal steps on ’employees recruitment’ scam of Shahjalal Islami Bank (SIB).
The BB’s Financial Integrity and Customers Services Department sent a recommendation paper and a set of information of irregularity signed by BB General Manager to ACC
Chairman M Badiuzzaman on Monday, sources said.
The BB in its internal inquiry found that the certificates of 24 officials out of 25 are fakes, who were appointed several years ago.
They showed the certificates of different private and public universities.
The Financial Integrity and Customers Services Department confirmed about those fakeness after talking to the educational institutions. While the certificate of remaining one officer is still under scrutiny.
Many of them are executive officers now, BB report says.
They have been enjoying all the facilities of the bank, including a handsome salary, for a long time, which is an offence in the eye of law, it says.
But the authorities of the SIB did not take any legal action against the alleged accused, rather issued them No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The bank’s board of directors and other officers had linkage to such absurdity.
Asked A K Azad, Chairman of Board of Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank told an online Bangla news agency that he was unknown to any kind of corruption about the recruitment matter.
