Shabnam, Gazi Mazharul’s sudden meeting

Legendary film actress Shabnam and noted lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar are residing in common area in the capital. In the afternoon, both of them go to park for walking. Shabnam was outside the country so she could not see Gazi Mazharul Anwar. Last week they found and talked with each other. Shabnam acted under Gazi’s direction in movies Sondhi and Shorto. Film-lovers can still recall the memory of Shabnam’s performance in a play song titled Ekta chithi likhe dao tumi sobare janao with Razzak in film Sondhi. Same thing also happened in case of film Shorto.
In 1971, after acting in Ashok Ghosh’s Nacher Putul Shabnam could not acting in any other film in Bangladesh. Later Sondhi was her comeback movie in 1987’s Eid.
While talking about Gazi Mazharul Anwar Shabnam said, “Gazi Bhai I really miss those days. Now I have communication with you only among the film related persons. You are my neighbourhood also. I want to work in movie again. If you make any film again, please cast me because you are a true film-lover as I know.”
Gazi Mazharul Anwar said, “Though Shabnam acted in few number of Bangladeshi movies but those got popularity. It is a plus point to cast her that she always co-operated the directors during shooting. She is a person with personality. We did not evaluate her properly. But she is a top class actress and good human being.”
Shabnam also informed that she is now in country. Few days later she will go to Pakistan where she is acting in a drama serial.
