Advance train ticket sale for Eid-ul-Azha from July 29

Bangladesh Railway (BR) will start selling of advance intercity trains’ ticket ahead of Eid-ul-Azha from July 29.
A total of 50 per cent of the total tickets will be sold online through an app from 6:00am on July 29.
The rest will be sold from 9:00am on the day in different counters from five places in the capital.
Advance tickets for intercity trains for travelling on August 7,8, 9, 10, and 11 would be sold on July 29, 30 and 31, and August 1 and 2 respectively.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said this while briefing reporters at the Rail Bhaban on Tuesday afternoon.
Tickets for all intercity trains to the country’s Western zones will be sold from Kamalapur Railway Station, while the tickets to Chattogram and Noakhali destinations will be sold from Airport Railway Station.
Mymensingh and Jamalpur-bound holidaymakers will be able to buy the tickets from Tejgaon Railway Station.
Besides, the tickets for Netrakona-bound Mohonganj and Haor Express will be sold from Banani Railway Station, while the tickets to Sylhet and Kishoreganj-bound holidaymakers from Old Rail Bhaban in Fulbaria area, the Minister said.
Everyday 29,500 advance train tickets will be sold. No one except for ministers, lawmakers, secretaries, Supreme Court judges and their families will be eligible for VIP tickets and no tickets will be sold based on recommendation, Sujan said adding that they will only be eligible for VIP tickets if they are travelling in person.
Meanwhile, the Minister also added that tracks were damaged in the flood are also expected to be fixed before Eid.
On a question about the measures to ease the hassles of buying tickets online, Sujan said, “The service provider CNSBD has increased its capacity. The traffic load handled by its server increases to 100,000 visitors per minute. We’ve also formed a panel to look into the matter. It’ll report next Thursday. ” In another query, he said, “Quotas have been set for VIPs. But they can’t recommend it to anyone else. No-one else can travel on their tickets. “
