Four killed in gunfights

At least four alleged drug traders, including a suspected robber, were killed in separate gunfights in Dhaka, Chattogram, Meherpur and Cox’s Bazar districts on Thursday.
In Dhaka, an alleged drug dealer named Nabi Hossain, 47, was killed in a shootout between an armed group and the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) a RAB check post in Dhaka Udyan area of Mohammadpur early Thursday.
Foreign pistol, bullets and 10,000 pieces of yaba tablets were recovered from the spot. Two RAB members also sustained injuries in the shootout.
Mohammad Mohiuddin Faruqui, RAB-2 Company Commander said Superintendent of Police (SP) confirmed the matter to media.
In Cox’s Bazar, a suspected yaba trader named Mohammad Kashem was killed and three members of law enforcement were injured in a shootout during a drive in West Satgharia area of Teknaf,.
Two locally made arms, nine rounds of bullets and some 3,400 pieces of yaba pills were recovered from the spot. Kashem was accused in six cases over drug dealing, murder, arms and violence.
Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradip Kumar Das confirmed the matter to media.
In Meherpur, Alleged drug dealer named Fazlur Rahman alias Fazu, 45, was killed in infighting between police and Fazu supporters in Gangni upazila, around 2:30am.
A one shooter gun and one kg hemp were recovered from the spot.
Gangni Police Station OC Harendranath Sarker confirmed the matter to media.
In Chattogram, a suspected robber named Delwar Hossain was killed in a shootout between his men and RAB members in Banshkhali upazila early Thursday.
Four arms including a foreign revolver and 22 rounds of bullets were recovered from the spot.
RAB-7 Media Officer ASP Md Mashkur Rahman confirmed the matter.
