Pro-people bureaucracy is a need of time
I’m so much frustrated seeing that bureaucracy not yet becomes pro-people even after 48 years of our independence. Recently we’ve graduated from a least developed country to a developing country. But what’s true that our bureaucracy is yet to come out of colonial mindset.
It’s a common public perception that most of our civil servants consider them to be the rulers or masters and so they treat the common people like rulers, though they are supposed to serve the people.
The Article 7(1) of our Constitution says, “All powers in the Republic belong to the people, and their exercise on behalf of the people shall be effected only under, and by the authority of, this Constitution.” Besides, the Article 21(2) of the Constitution says, “Every person in the service of the Republic has a duty to strive at all times to serve the people.”
If it is so, how come some of the civil servants behave with commoners in such a way! I do believe, it’s high time to make our bureaucracy time-befitting and modern one, which will be able to serve the common people with sincerity.
