HC stays ACC notice on JP’s Hawlader
Staff Reporter :
The High Court (HC) on Wednesday stayed for four weeks the notice on Jatiya Party leader A B M Ruhul Amin Hawlader to appear before Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The court also issued a rule asking the ACC to explain as to why the notice issued on Ruhul Amin on grounds of misappropriating assets should not be declared illegal.
The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice S M Kuddus Zaman passed the order and issued the rule upon a writ petition filed by Ruhul Amin challenging the legality of the notice.
ACC’s lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told the reporters, former General Secretary of Jatiya Party, does not need to appear before the commission tomorrow following the stay order.
He said, the HC stayed the ACC’s notice on the ground that the notice stated that Ruhul misappropriated the asset worth around Tk 100 crores influencing bureaucrats and court.
The HC will hear the writ petition after four weeks, he added.
Advocate A M Aminuddin appeared for Ruhul Amin Howlader.
