Fish price up, supply down

The fish price has marked rise again in the city markets in the weekend. Vegetables price has, however, fallen slightly.
The scorpion and cat fish were selling at Tk 600 to Tk800 per kg, lobster and prawn at Tk700 to Tk 1000, Ruhit at Tk 280 to 450, carp at Tk 230 to Tk 400, pangas at Tk 170 to 200, Tilapia at Tk 180 to Tk 230, mola at Tk 250, climbing fish at Tk 250 to 600, Lata at Tk 200 to Tk 300, Tatkini at Tk 230 to Tk 250, Sheat fish at Tk 300 to Tk 500, fry fish for Tk 250 and Butter fish at Tk 800 to Tk 1100. Sea fish Marcel at Tk250 to 270, Surma fish at Tk280 to 340 and Mackerel at Tk 250 to 300 only. The price of different kinds of dry fishes was also increased by about Tk 30 to 50 per kg.
Besides, at Karwan Bazar fish market on Friday, a big size of hilsha was found selling at Tk 1300 per piece while a middle size one at Tk 700 and small size at Tk 500.
Of the vegetables, the brinjal was found selling at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg in the city’s kitchen markets on Friday, potato at Tk24 to Tk26, bitter gourd at Tk 40, cucumber at Tk 30 to 40, okra at Tk 30 to 35, bean at Tk 80, papaya at Tk 20, carrot at Tk 80, tomato at Tk 90 to 100, snake gourd at Tk40, french at Tk 60, radish at Tk 40,
cauliflower at Tk20 to 25 per piece, cabbage at Tk40, parbal at Tk40 to 45, teasel gourd at Tk30 to 40, pumpkin medium size at Tk 50 to 60 per piece, gourd at Tk40 to 50, ash gourd at Tk35 to 40, coriander leaves at Tk 400 per kg, green chilli at Tk120 to 150, capsicum (red) at Tk650 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk300 to 450.
Imported garlic was selling at Tk 90 and local one at Tk 80. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 260 and local produce at Tk200 only.
In most of the city’s kitchen markets, local onion was selling at Tk 45, imported onion (India) at Tk 43 and lentil at Tk 110. A 5-kg Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil was selling at Tk 530 and Teer brand at Tk 530.
Prices of different varieties of rice remained unchanged. Coarse rice was selling between Tk 34 and Tk 35, Nazirshail at Tk 49-56, Pyjam at Tk 34, Kataribhogh at Tk 75 and Minicate at Tk 52-54.
Egg was selling at Tk 30 per hali (four pieces) and sugar in pack at Tk 50 a kg.
The price of crushed spices remained unchanged. Pepper was selling at Tk 40 per 100 grams, turmeric at Tk 28 and coriander seeds (dhania) at Tk 32. Beef was selling at Tk 280 to Tk300 and red meat at Tk 400-500 only.
Price of chicken, especially local chickens remains high. A medium size of local chicken was selling at Tk 350 while a big siz of chicken at Tk 500-650 on Friday. On the other hand, boiler chickens were selling at Tk 180 per kg.
