Govt in conspiracy to push Khaleda to death: Fakhrul

Staff Reporter :
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday accused the government of engineering a deep conspiracy to send the party’s imprisoned Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to the door of death by depriving her of medical facilities.
“Seriously sick Khaleda Zia was not given any treatment and there had been done no health checkup, including blood and sugar test, and any x-ray in last three months. Even the medical board formed for her treatment, got astonished after learning that she was deprived of minimum medical treatment for a long time. The medial board examined her on Sunday after nearly three and a half months. It is a sign of conspiracy to push her to a tragedy,” Mirza Fakhrul said at a press conference in the party’s Nayapaltan office.
The BNP leaders have also warned the government to shoulder all the responsibilities if anything bad happens to their chairperson for not giving her treatment.
“Giving of no treatment and producing her in the court in wheelchair is part of the conspiracy,” he said.
He said that their leader in no way deserved such mal treatment.
“We are urging the government to ensure proper treatment for Khaleda by freeing her from jail immediately,” he said.
He also said, their party is ready to bear all the additional expenditures for Khaleda’s treatment.
BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Goyeswar Chandra Roy and Nazrul Islam Khan, Vice Chairman Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Assistant Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam Azad, among others, were present.
