Youth Test series: Bangladesh take 1-0 lead beating England by 8 wkts
Bangladesh U-19 Cricket team got off to a good start in the two-match four-day Youth Test series beating touring English U-19 side by eight wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city of Chattogram on Sunday.
This was the second successive series victory for the Under-19 side after winning the one-off T20 series beating visiting English Youth team by seven wickets at the same venue.
In the 1st Youth Test, England U-19 side having 280 runs in the first innings resumed the 2nd innings on the 4th and final day (Sunday) with overnight score 89 for 6 and were bundled out cheaply for 152 runs in 84.3 overs with two overnight batsmen GCH Hill (32) and LBK Hollman (29) emerging as the leading scorers for the tourists.
Minhazur Rahman bowled devastatingly to grab six wickets for 28 runs to be adjudged man of the match while Asadullah Galib claimed three wickets for 30 runs.
Having 398 runs in the first innings, the Young Tigers opened the 2nd innings with a small target of 35 runs and easily reached the target scoring 40 runs for the loss of two wickets in 10 overs to win the match comfortably by eight wickets.
The English team will play the 2nd and last match of the two-match four-day Youth Tests series on February 15-18 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram before leaving for home on February 19.
