HC clears way for Hero Alam to contest in polls

The High Court (HC) on Monday cleared the way for independent candidate Ashraful Alam alias Hero Alam to contest in the December 30 election from Bogura-4 Constituency.
The court directed the Election Commission to accept Hero Alam’s nomination paper and to allow him to contest in the election.
It also stayed the Election Commission’s decision that upheld the Returning Officer’s order rejecting his nomination paper.

The High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif
and Justice Razik Al Jalil passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by Hero Alam challenging the Election Commission’s order.
There is no legal bar for Hero Alam to contest in the upcoming election following the High Court order, his lawyer Advocate Kawser Ali told the reporters.
