DOE fines textile industry for pollution

The Directorate of Environment (DOE) on Monday fined NFZ Terri Textile Industries Ltd TK 10 lakh for running the industries without environmental clearance and for not installing Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for last 12 years. The DOE in an enforcement drive on Nov 12 found the industry creating environmental pollution.
The Director of the Environment Moazzam Hossain after final hearing yesterday penalised the industry located at Shakpura village under Boalkhali upazila of the district. The DOE also asked the industry authority to renew NOC and install ETP by December 15 next.
