Former SC judge Abdul Aziz passes away

Justice Md Abdul Aziz, a former judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, died on Wednesday night at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city.
He was suffering from various diseases besides old-age complications, judge’s son-in-law Fakhruddin told the reporters. He was 75.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held on the
Supreme Court premises on Thursday afternoon. Family sources said that his body would be buried on Saturday in the graveyard of Sector-12 of Uttara.
In his first Namaz-e-Janaza, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, other judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division, Supreme Court’s lawyers, President and Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), former Chief Justice Md Mozammel Hossain and former Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah attended.
Justice Abdul Aziz was born on January 1, 1943 at Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenaidah district. He passed his Matriculation Examination in 1958 from Kotchandpur English School and Intermediate in 1960 from Pabna Edward College. After obtaining BA degree from Jashore Michael Madhusudan Dutta College, he did LLB degree from University of Dhaka in 1965.
He joined Jashore District Bar as a lawyer in 1966 and became a lawyer of then East Pakistan High Court in 1969. He was enrolled as an Appellate Division’s lawyer in 1983.
He was appointed a High Court Division Judge on April 27 in 1998 and appointed in the Appellate Division on April 8 on 2009. He retired on December 31 in 2009.
