March of ‘TIB-DIU YES Group’ at DIU

YES Group (Youth Engagement and Support), an Anti-corruption student organization of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has been officially started journey at Daffodil International University (DIU) through an orientation and Oath taking program held at 71 Milonayoton of the university recently.
Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) was present in the program as chief guest and conducted oath-taking ceremony. 22 students took oath on the program. Presided over by Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU, the program was also addressed by Prof Dr SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer; Prof Dr Engr AKM Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of DIU and Life Member of TIB, Sheikh Manjur-E-Alam, Director, Outreach and Communication of TIB, Deans, Heads of the Department and Faculty Members of DIU were present in the program.
Dr Iftekharuzzaman presented a keynote paper titled ‘Anti-Corruption Social Movement and Sustainable Development: Our Responsibility’ in the program. While presenting the paper he told to the young students that our constitutional aim didn’t fulfill still now which we had prepared after liberation war. The article No.7 of our constitution says that, all powers in the Republic belong to the people. But, reality is that, people doesn’t have their constitutional rights to enjoy due to corruption, blamed Dr Iftekharuzzaman. He also said that, corruption means not only taking bribe but also the abuse of all kind of political, social and economic power.
Dr Iftekharuzzaman urged the students to take lesson from history. He said, young generations of Bangladesh always showed their great leadership form Language movement, Liberation war, Anti-tyranny movement to recently happened road safety movement. So, Bangladesh will be a corruption free country one day by this young generation, he expressed his hope.
It may be mentioned that YES program was conducted by TIB from 2008 in various university campus in Bangladesh. From now students of Daffodil International University are joined this group.
