National Archery Championship begins

Teer ninth National Archery Championship began on Wednesday at the Archery Training Center, Martyr Ahasanullah Master Stadium in Gazipur, said a Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) press release.
Zahid Ahasan Russell, MP, chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry, inaugurated the meet as the chief guest while City Group executive director Shoyedb M Asaduzzaman will present as special guest.
BAF vice-president Anisur Rahman Dipu, its general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, championship’s co-coordinator Faruk Dhali and other federation’s officials were present in the inaugural ceremony.
On the first day of the competition, M Rumman Sana of Bangladesh Ansar made the new national record in men’s singles recurve division as scored 654 after eclipsing his own previous record of 652.
The recurve division of men and compound division of women quarter-finals will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at the same venue.
A total of 142 participants (recurve division men 64 and women 26 and compound division men 31 and women 21) from 32 teams are taking part in the four-day meet, sponsored by City Group and organised by BAF.
The competition included compound division men’s singles and team event and women’s singles and team event and mixed team events.
