Ctg ready for Durga Puja celebration

The port city is ready for Durga Puja from Mohaloya on Tuesday till the Bodhon of Durga to be held on September 25. Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) stepped up stern security measures to control the law and order situation in the port city for Durga Puja.
All preparation has taken by the CMP to control the law and order at 266 Puja Mondop in the city area of Chittagong this year, sources said. Of the Mondops, 105 Puja Mondops are very important regarding the security, the leaders of Bangladesh Puja Utjapon Committee said. Sources said, following the recent militants activities in Chittagong, the CMP and other law enforcing agencies have taken some special measures for the safety of minority people in Chittagong. Police has already started special raids to nab the suspicious criminals and recover arms from the hidden spots. Meanwhile, CMP has arrested several suspicious persons who were engaged with conspiracy to create anarchy during the Durga Puja.
All the arrested persons are Shibir cadres, police alleged. According to the sources, a total of 266 Puja Mondops have already been set up at the 41 wards in the port city. The CMP planned to provide security at every Puja Mondop in the metropolitan area of Chittagong.
The CMP already submitted requisition for additional policemen for the special security measures to the higher authority. Besides, special teams of police will be deployed for mobile duty at the vulnerable areas in the city.
