Begum Rokeya University, (BRU), Rangpur observed the National Mourning Day 2017 marking the 42nd anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Tuesday. Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah in a discussion meeting to mark the Day announced to open ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ with a view to preserving the reminiscences of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
BUET
Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, Bangladesh University Grants Commission was the chief guest at a discussion and Doa Mahfil held on Tuesday (15 August, 2017) at BUET central auditorium organized by BUET on the occasion of National Mourning Day marking the 42nd death anniversary of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman chaired by Prof Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor, BUET.
Among others Prof Dr Md. Maksud Helali, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof Dr Sk Sekender Ali, Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof Dr Md. Saifur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Prof Dr Md. Rafique Ullah, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, BUET also spoke on the occasion. The function was conducted by Prof Dr Md. Saidur Rahman, Registrar (Addl. Charge), BUET.
BOU
The National Mourning Day was observed in BOU`s main campus at Gazipur and in other officies through the country with due respect and solemnity on Tuesday marking the 42th anniversary of the martyrdom ot Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The programme of the day began with the placing of floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the histrorical 32 Dhanmondi by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr MA Mannan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer and the Teachers, Officers, Employee of the University in Dhaka and also at the liberation Memorial Monunent at BOU`s campus in Gazipur.
Beside this the National flag was half past in the BOU`s Main campus on the day. Again special prayers offered and Quarankhane took place for salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members who were assassinated on this day.
EU
To mark the 42nd anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Eastern University (EU) organized a discussion meeting and dua mahfil Wednesday. Engr Kh Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), EU was the chief guest. Md. Azizul Islam, Former Chairman of BoT was the chief discussant while Mohammed Ali Azzam, Member of BoT was present as special guest of the discussion.
Vice Chancellor of EU Prof Dr Abdur Rab chaired the occasion.
EWU
East West University (EWU) observed the National Mourning Day and paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due solemnity and honor marking his 42th death anniversary on 15 August 2017 at the university campus, Aftabnagar in the capital.
The national flag and the EWU flag were hoisted at half-mast as a mark of reverence at 5:34 am. The program followed by a “Munajat”. The prayer was offered for eternal peace of Bangabandhu and his family members who embraced shahadat on 15 August 1975.
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (EWU) and former Personal Secretary of Bangabandhu, Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Treasurer, Deans, and Chairpersons of the different departments, faculty members, staffs and few students of the university were present on the occasion.
Manarat College
With respect, reverence, and solemnity, Manarat Dhaka International School and College observed the National Mourning Day on Tuesday. On this occasion, the college authority arranged a special art competition for the junior students. Discussion on the life and work of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, exhibition of documentary films on the life and memory of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were held in senior sections. The daylong event was inaugurated by Brig Gen (Retd.) Md Mehdi Hassan Pramanik, psc, principal of the college.
The event commenced with the recitation from the holy Quran and by singing the national anthem. Brig Gen (Retd.) Md Mehdi Hassan Pramanik, psc, principal, and Fatima Jemaima Rahman, vice principal, discussed on various aspects of the life of Bongobondhu.
The principal said in his speech that the life of Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was itself a history.
He added that we have to serve the nation taking lessons from his great life.
Besides, Akhirunnahar Mim and Naofel Anwar Ishraq, students of the college, delivered speech on this occasion.
Boys’ and girls’ section organized different discussion session. At the end of the sessions, a special prayer was conducted in both sections for the redemption of the departed souls of the 15th August.
