A Chittagong court on Monday directed the law enforcing agency to arrest the ten accused in Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury murder case.
Munshi Mashiur Rahman, Chief Judicial Magistrate, gave the order on Monday.
The court issued the warrant in the case filed by Jaheda Amin Chowdhury, mother of the deceased Diaz.
The court further ordered to interrogate the accused and forfeit their passport, so that they could not leave the country.
It may be mentioned that the Hathazari police on November 20 in 2016 recovered the body of the central BCL assistant secretary Diaz from his rented house at Number-2 Gate of Chittagong University (CU) around 9.30 pm. Diaz, a former student of Finance Department and former joint secretary of CU unit of BCL, lived in the campus with his family as his mother is an employee of the university.
However, victim’s family members and followers claimed that his body was hanged from the ceiling fan after murdering him. The autopsy report said it was a suicide, but his BCL loyalists claimed rivals murdered him and hung up the body to cover it up. Later on December 10, Diaz’s body was exhumed following a court order for second autopsy after his family rejected the first autopsy report that said it was a suicide.
The body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for a fresh post-mortem and buried again the next day. Second autopsy carried out by a three-member committee of the Dhaka Medical College revealed some bruises on the body of Diaz.
The second autopsy report said that Diaz was murdered. The CID of Chittagong received the second autopsy report on July 30 last.
The Investigation Officer submitted the report on August 2 last to the court.
Meanwhile, on November 24 in 2016 last Jaheda Amin, mother of Diaz filed the case at a senior judicial magistrate’s court of Shiblu Kumar Deb accusing ten including Chittagong University’s assistant proctor Anwar Hossain and CU unit Chhatra League President Alamgir Tipu. The others accused of killing are Jamshedul Alam Chowdhury, Rashedul Alam Jishan, Abu Torab Porosh, Monsur Alam, Abdul Malek, Mizanur Rahman, Ariful Hoque Opu and Mohammad Arman.
