Homecoming Day of Hasina observed

BSS, Dhaka :The Homecoming Day of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was observed yesterday with elaborate programmes.Marking the day, the ruling Awami League, its associate bodies and other organisations placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, held discussions, milad and doa mahfils and distributed food among the orphans.In the morning, national and party flags were hoisted atop Awami League offices throughout the country. After placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, central leaders of Awami League (AL) including AL Advisory Council member Tofail Ahmed, presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury and Advocate Sahara Khatun, joint general secretaries Mahbub-ul- Alam Hanif and Dr Dipu Moni went to Gano Bhaban and handed over bouquets to greet their party president Sheikh Hasina.Later, leaders of Dhaka City AL, Mahila AL, Jatiya Sramik League, Krishak League, Awami Juba League, Awami Swechchasebak League, Juba Mahila League, Chhatra League, Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad, Bangabandhu Parishad and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and other socio-cultural-professional bodies placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.In the afternoon, Dhaka City AL organised a discussion at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers marking the day.Acting president of Dhaka City AL MA Aziz chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by AL presidium member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, party presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and Dhaka City AL general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram).Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by Awami Swechchasebak League (ASL) in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, AL advisory Council member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said, “With the change of the government in India there will not be any change in its external affairs (foreign) policy. The existing good relations between Bangladesh and India will remain intact.” The Commerce Minister said, “The previous BJP-led government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee granted Bangladesh duty-free trade benefits. The new Narendra Modi government of India will also keep that in mind relating to relations between the two neighbours.”Speaking at the discussion, JSD president and Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said, “After her return home, Sheikh Hasina took six epoch-making initiatives.
