Dhaka Tribune emerged as the champions of the Marcel-BSJC Media Cup Football Tournament beating Channel i by three goals to nil in the tie-breaker of the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Saturday.
The stipulated time ended in a 1-1 draw.
Fazle Rabbi of Dhaka Tribune put his team ahead by scoring a goal.
Noufel of Channel i leveled the margin by scoring a goal.
In the tie-breaker, Dhaka Tribune scored three goals but Channel i failed to net any goal.
Noufel of Channel i was adjudged the Player of the Tournament. Shafi of SA TV was the highest scorer of the meet.
The champions were awarded Taka thirty thousand, while the runners-up were given Taka twenty thousand. The Player of the Tournament and the highest scorer of the competition got Walton 19 inches LED televisions.
After the final match, former national footballer Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Chunnu, Member of BFF Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Operative Director and Head of Sports & Welfare Department of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn distributed the prizes among the winners.
President of Bangladesh Sports Journalists Community (BSJC) Asif Iqbal, General Secretary of BSJC Shafiqul Islam Shamim, Convener of the Tournament Committee Zahed Hossain Khokon, Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Kamal Hossain Bablu were present at the time.
