Call to stand beside distressed people to get fair justice

National Legal Aid Day-2017 was celebrated in the port city as elsewhere in the district on Friday with a call to stand beside the distressed to conduct their cases smoothly to get fair justice by the courts.
Chittagong District judgeship, magistracy and District Legal Aid celebration committee jointly chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Day.
In the morning, a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the district judge court and ended at the same venue after parading different streets of Chittagong Court. District and Sessions Judge Helal Chowdhury formally inaugurated the rally as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers said the district legal aid committee formed by the government has been playing a significant role for the last few years in ensuring fair justice of the distressed people of all the 14 upazilas and 41 wards of Chittagong City Corporation.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shehe-nur, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Nasir Uddin, Chief Judicial Magistrate Munshi Moshiur Rahman, Additional District Judges, judicial magistrates, public prosecutors and lawyers took part in the rally.Apart from this, a discussion meeting was also held under the auspices of District Legal Aid celebration committee marking the day, sources said.
